Safe and Sound Protocol

Safe & Sound Protocol

The SSP is a gentle, evidence-based listening therapy that uses filtered music to calm the nervous system. It helps children feel safer, more focused, and better able to regulate emotions.

Who it helps

  • Children with anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or behavioural challenges

  • Those with autism spectrum traits, attention difficulties, or learning needs

  • Young people impacted by trauma or attachment concerns

Flexible Delivery

SSP can be delivered:

  • At home with guidance

  • In school as part of a plan

  • In clinic with therapist support

How it works

Children listen to specially filtered music through headphones in a calm space. This stimulates the vagus nerve, supporting:

  • Calm, focus, and emotional regulation

  • Improved social engagement

  • Better readiness for learning

Typical Programme

5–10 sessions, 5–30 minutes each, with follow-up support as needed.
